At our August 11, 2026 Watts Neighborhood Council meeting we approved two community impact statements on council files the City Council is working on. For Council File 2609 64 truck traffic restrictions and Traffic Safety improvements, we shared our support for this council file and commended Council Member Tim McOsker for bringing forward a thoughtful effort to improve public safety and reduce the impacts of heavy duty truck traffic within the Watts community. We also asked for a Healthy Freight Routing framework that prioritizes freight movement based not only on efficiency but on protecting public health, reducing emissions and minimizing impacts on vulnerable populations.
We also supported Council File 25-0916 (CFMS) which concerns interim land use cannabis controls for smoke and vape shops and related tobacco retailer permits within Council District 15.
