June 17, 2024, we dedicated a square in honor of a Watts legend, “Sweet” Alice Harris. A community activist and founder of Parents of Watts, Sweet Alice has provided support and guidance to families and youth affected by poverty, violence, and other social issues. A force for change, she has left, and continues to leave, an indelible mark on the Watts community for decades. This dedication, at the intersection of N. Santa Ana Blvd. and Lou Dillon Ave., is a permanent reflection of the impact Dr. Sweet Alice Harris has had on the community of Watts and all of Los Angeles.
