Apply now for the Mayor’s Youth Council for Climate Action (MYCCA). MYCCA members have the chance to drive ambitious climate action, raise awareness, and engage Angelenos on solutions while working with leaders and experts in the field. Meetings will take place once per month during the school year (virtually or in person depending on safety and health guidelines) with a few additional off-site visits/virtual engagements. By the end of the school year, MYCCA members will have gained knowledge about current climate action efforts and initiated their own council-driven work, making a lasting impact on the community and expanding their knowledge of the sustainability field.
The application due date is Tuesday SEPTEMBER 6 and the applicant must live in Los Angeles, be 15-22 years old, and meet at least ONE of the following criteria:
Has demonstrated leadership on climate change, environmental issues or environmental justice, OR
Currently studying STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), OR
Residing in a community negatively impacted by environmental justice issues and disproportionately burdened by multiple sources of pollution (as defined by CalEnviroScreen data as the top 25% scoring area http://oehha.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=8dad35dcd2274285874e60871c404edc)
