The Watts Neighborhood Council joins our entire community in mourning the tragic loss of our beloved brother, friend and leader, Eric Washington. Eric’s life was a testament to service, love and unwavering dedication to the people.
Eric was a visionary leader who showed up for his community every single day offering mentorship, building bridges, creating opportunities and always thinking about solutions. His smile, his wisdom and his heart for others touched countless lives across Watts, Compton and beyond.
Eric proudly served as a field representative in the Los Angeles City Council District 15 Office, the Assembly District 65 Office, and with the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, where he worked his way from an intern to the community engagement manager. His commitment to public service and community empowerment left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Watts, Compton, the Divine 9 and all who knew him have lost a true champion. His legacy will live on in the lives he changed, the leaders he inspired and the community he loved so deeply.

Let us unite and move together as one to continue Eric’s work and strive to improve the quality of life for our community. Let’s keep his legacy alive through our actions, our love and our commitment to one another.
