Watts concerned about public safety at planned Skate Park.
Councilmember Buscaino has asked the Mayor’s office to conduct a viability check on three sites for Interim Housing in Council District 15. The first location is a city-owned lot in Watts at 2316 East Imperial Highway.
Watts NC celebrated the ground breaking for the Jordan Downs Plaza Retail Center on June 15. The project is being developed by Primestor in a public-private partnership and includes 113,000 of retail and dining space, adjacent to the redevelopment of Jordan Downs housing.
The environmental report found that although the project could have significant effect on the environment, revisions to the project make those possible impacts insignificant.
Watts NC is part of the Watts Rising Collaborative, instrumental in securing funding for affordable housing and environmental initiatives in Watts. “Watts has a special place in L.A. history, and this investment sets our eyes on what tomorrow should look like in a community of hardworking Angelenos with big dreams for the future,” said Mayor Garcetti. “This grant funding is a big step toward making those dreams come true — with improved quality of life, a renewed focus on public health, and better access to affordable housing.”
