September 8 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
One event on September 8, 2021 at 6:00 pm
You are invited for the WLCAC broadcasting of the Los Angeles City Council Redistricting Commission’s (LACCRC) community public hearing to talk about redistricting.
Watts is one of five neighborhoods in CD15 that is unnaturally linked to and also shares little in common with the other neighborhoods in the district. Watts currently resides on the outskirts of CD15 and is dwarfed politically by the population and voter strength in the south end of the district down in San Pedro (see map below) rest of CD15, making it nearly impossible for political action within the district to support the community. Moving Watts from CD15, where it is the unheard minority, to CD9, a district that more closely reflects Watts’ political and socioeconomic needs, will dramatically improve the ability for Watts to receive political support.
WLCAC will be broadcasting 2 community public hearings on Thursday, September 2 (6pm) – Council District 9 and Wednesday, September 8 (6pm) – Council District 8 at
10950 South Central Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90059
Please show up at 5:30pm to allow time to get acquainted with the structure of the meeting and to hear community leaders speak.
It is vital for the People Of Watts to come out in large numbers to attend both meetings, because the redistricting effort affects both CD8 and CD9. A microphone will be set up for public comments. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Your support is greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing AND hearing you there.
