The “South Central LA- Project to Understand the Sources of Air Pollution and Health Impacts (SCLA-PUSH)” is a collaborative effort that intends to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of community residents and advocates to identify the sources of air pollution in their region; engage in direct air data collection, community air monitoring; facilitate engagement in policy processes in order to improve air quality.
As part of our efforts to better understand the state of the air in South Central Los Angeles, Physicians for Social Responsibility-LA are hosting capacity trainings for community residents: our Air Quality Academy (AQA)Trainings. We are hosting our 3rd AQA at WATTS on Dec 5th and 7th at the Watts Civic Center. The AQA will have fun giveaways, educational activities, and a community air monitoring expert certificate for graduates. The Air Quality Academy is an opportunity for residents to understand how their health is impacted by air pollution and how incompatible hazardous sites being placed next to schools and residences impacts quality of life. See below for more information.
