Ages Take Action: Give the Vaccine a Shot Screening
July 29 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
What: Ages Take Action: Give the Vaccine a Shot Screening
Who: Heidi Duckler Dance
When: July 29th @ 7 pm
Where: Watts Labor Community Action Committee, 10950 S. Central Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90059
This video is one part of our Ages Take Action project, which is a collaboration between Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) and Martin Luther King, Jr. Outpatient Center at the MLK Community Hospital Campus (MLK) created to address factors contributing to low rates of vaccination amongst BIPOC communities, such as medical distrust. Our video showcases lively movement performed by a diverse group of HDD dancers and MLK providers, patients, and administrators, along with messages from people such as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ellen Rothman. Additionally, with the help of the Young Producers Group, we commissioned the video’s score to be created and produced by two Los Angeles Unified School District students.
At the screening, attendees will view the Ages Take Action video and have the opportunity to hear from and ask questions to a panel composed of medical providers, COVID-19 vaccine recipients, and vaccinated community representatives. By doing this, we hope to provide a community space for people’s vaccination concerns to be heard, increase scientifically-backed and first-hand knowledge of the vaccine and its effects, assist those needing help navigating where and how to get vaccinated, and ultimately combat the disproportionate effects COVID-19 is having on BIPOC communities.
